In our never-ending effort to find Tokyo hotels at extreme-bargain rates we’d like to point out (retroactively, of course) that you could have booked nights at the Tokyo and Osaka Hilton for as low as $2 a night just a week ago.

This rare opportunity occurred when Expedia was apparently having problems converting yen to dollars. Quite a few travelers were able to book rooms at these unbelievable discount rates. Eventually, Expedia caught on and pulled the plug on the deal.

If you were lucky enough to book a room in the month of November you get to keep the deal. If your stay is scheduled for after November you’ll need to pay the normal rate.

Looking for a cheap hotel in Tokyo? Who isn’t? (well, besides the people who aren’t actually in Tokyo). The International Tourism Center of Japan has recently “renewed” their website. I’m not certain, but I believe that might mean that they’ve redesigned their website.

According to the new site’s help page finding a hotel is easy:

“Please search by location or your conditions from the home page.”

Obviously it helps to know what condition you’re in before you start your search.

Language barrier aside, a few quick searches on various neighborhoods in Tokyo reveals some great hotel bargains.
